What is reiki ?

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

Reiki works to rebalance and clear this energy. The client remains fully clothed whilst the practitioner uses a series of hand positions, either on or slightly above the body depending on preference, to work within the energy field - promoting relaxation, releasing tension and helping the body to balance it’s energy centres or ‘chakras’. You may feel a change in temperature, tingling, visions of colour or feel nothing at all other than a sense of deep relaxation as the reiki flows to where it is needed.

Regardless of your health status, whether you are feeling challenged or on top of the world, reiki has the potential to benefit everyone!

Reiki has increasing evidence supporting its health benefits. It can help with anxiety and depression, emotional problems, high blood pressure, chronic pain and fatigue, menopausal symptoms, and grief.

Reiki can be given to children, pregnant mothers, and people with cancer as it has no known side effects. It can be very beneficial to support those undergoing cancer treatments.

It is a non-invasive complementary therapy that doesn’t replace medical advice or treatment.
